Samarth Portal West Bengal Explained
The Samarth Portal (samarth.wb.gov.in) is the Government of West Bengal's common online platform for social pension schemes. You use it to track a pension record and view payment information. You do not apply for a new pension on it.
Samarth is a tracking and records platform for West Bengal social pensions. The Department of Finance is named as the nodal department on the portal, and the National Informatics Centre (NIC) is credited with the website. New applications go through the government office for your area.
Why the Samarth Portal exists
For years, West Bengal's pension schemes were run separately by different departments. Old age, widow and disability pensions each had their own process. Public guides report that the Jai Bangla scheme of 2020 brought these under one umbrella. Samarth is the online system that gives this umbrella a single front door.
For a beneficiary, the benefit is simple. One website, one search screen and one set of steps, whatever the scheme.
What you can do on Samarth
| Facility | What it shows | Who uses it |
|---|---|---|
| Track applicant | Whether a record exists and its current status | Applicants and beneficiaries |
| Payment status | Payments for a chosen financial year | Beneficiaries |
| Bank details on record | Bank, branch, IFSC, partly hidden account number | Beneficiaries |
| Registered login | Account area for registered users | Registered users |

What Samarth does not do
- It does not take new applications online. Guides report that applications are submitted at the Block Development Office, Sub-Divisional Office, municipality or municipal corporation, depending on where you live and the scheme.
- It does not change your details on request. Corrections go through the office that handles your record.
- It does not decide eligibility. The scheme rules and the verifying office do.
How to identify the official Samarth Portal
The official address is samarth.wb.gov.in. Check that the part before the first single slash ends in wb.gov.in. A site like this one, with a different address, is not the portal, however it looks.
Never share your password, OTP, ATM PIN or banking credentials with an unofficial website or person.
