About Samarth
What is Samarth WB?
Samarth WB is the common name for the Samarth Portal of the Government of West Bengal at samarth.wb.gov.in. It is an online platform for the state's social pension schemes, used to track pension records and view payment information. People add 'WB' to separate it from other portals also called Samarth.
What is the Samarth Portal used for?
The portal brings several West Bengal social pension schemes onto one platform. Public guides describe a tracking search to find a beneficiary record, see its status and view payments by financial year, plus a separate login for registered users. Applications themselves are made at government offices.
Is this website the official Samarth Portal?
No. SamarthGuide is an independent informational website. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Government of West Bengal. The official portal is samarth.wb.gov.in. Use only the official portal for login, searches with your Aadhaar or mobile number, and any personal information.
What is the official Samarth Portal address?
The official address is samarth.wb.gov.in. Before typing anything, check that the part of the address before the first single slash ends in wb.gov.in. Addresses ending in .com, .in, .org or with extra words are not the government portal.
Who runs the Samarth Portal?
The portal's own notice names the Department of Finance, Government of West Bengal, as the nodal department, together with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and the respective departments that run each scheme.
How do I login to Samarth?
Open samarth.wb.gov.in, enter your registered mobile number, type the captcha, enter your password and press Login. If you forgot your password, use the Forgot Password option on the official page. Login is for registered users; most pensioners only need the status search.
How can I check Samarth status?
Open the track applicant or payment status option on the official portal, select your pension scheme, choose Beneficiary ID, registered mobile number or Aadhaar number, enter it with the captcha and press Search. If the option is not visible, check the portal later or ask the office where you applied.
Can I apply for a pension on the Samarth Portal?
Public guides report that Samarth is a tracking platform, not an application platform. Applications are submitted at the Block Development Office, Sub-Divisional Office, municipality or municipal corporation, depending on your area and scheme. Your record appears on Samarth after the office processes it.
Which schemes are covered by Samarth?
Guides describing the tracking menu in 2026 list WCD Old Age Pension, WCD Widow Pension, WCD Manabik, Taposili Bandhu (SC), Jai Johar (ST), a legacy ST old age pension, pensions for farmers and fishermen, the State Welfare Scheme for Purohits, and MSME, textile and LPP pensions. Confirm on the portal.
Is Samarth related to Jai Bangla?
Public guides report that the Jai Bangla scheme of 2020 brought West Bengal's social pension schemes under one umbrella. Samarth is the online platform used to track records and payments for these schemes. They are related, but Jai Bangla is the scheme framework and Samarth is the portal.
Why can't I find the track status button?
Independent guides reported in 2026 that the portal homepage now opens on the login form and no longer shows a visible track applicant button, although a tracking page still existed. Portal layouts change. Check the official portal again later or ask the office that handles your record.
Is Aadhaar required to check status?
No. Aadhaar is one of three search options described for the tracking page, along with Beneficiary ID and registered mobile number. You only need one. If you use Aadhaar, type it only on samarth.wb.gov.in and never on a guide website or in a message.
Should I share my OTP with anyone?
Never. An OTP is like a key to your account or bank. No government office, bank officer or helper needs it over a call or message. If someone asks for your OTP to release a pension, it is fraud. Hang up and report it on 1930.
What should I do if the portal is not working?
Wait and try again at a quieter time, such as early morning. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or try another browser. The portal may be under maintenance. If you urgently need information, visit the office where you applied.
Can scheme eligibility change?
Yes. Eligibility, amounts and procedures are set by government notifications and can change. Information on any guide website, including this one, may become outdated. Always confirm current rules with the relevant office or official website before applying.
Who should I contact for official assistance?
For your application or beneficiary record, contact the office where you applied, such as the BDO, SDO, municipality or municipal corporation. For account or payment credit issues, contact your bank branch. This website cannot access or change any record.
Why is my pension payment delayed?
Common reasons include verification still in progress, a bank account that is inactive or has pending KYC, Aadhaar not seeded with the account, or a mismatch between the name on record and the bank. Check your record and payment status on the official portal, then your bank.
Can I check Samarth information on my phone?
Yes. The official portal opens in a phone browser. Type samarth.wb.gov.in in Chrome or another browser. Tap the address bar to see the full address and confirm it ends in wb.gov.in. There is no need to install any unknown app.
What is a Beneficiary ID?
A Beneficiary ID is a unique number linked to your pension record. It may be on your approval papers or provided by the office. It is the most reliable search option, because it does not change when your mobile number changes. Keep it written somewhere safe.
Can someone else check status for me?
A family member can help you search on the official portal using your identifier. Do not give your details to unknown agents or shops offering to check status for a fee, and never share an OTP with anyone.
Do I need to pay to check Samarth status?
Checking status on the official portal is a public facility. Be careful of anyone asking for money to check or speed up your application. Paying an agent does not change how an office processes your record.
How often is this guide updated?
Each page shows its published, updated and reviewed dates. Core pages are reviewed regularly and whenever the portal or a scheme changes. Our editorial policy explains how we check sources and handle corrections.
Who can log in to Samarth?
Registered users with a Samarth account and password. If you have never been given a password, you probably need the public status search, not login.
What details do I need to log in?
Public guides describe the login as needing the registered mobile number, a captcha and a password. A Forgot Password option is also provided.
I forgot my Samarth password. What should I do?
Use the Forgot Password option on samarth.wb.gov.in. You will usually need access to the registered mobile number to complete recovery.
My registered mobile number no longer works. Can I still log in?
Online recovery may not work without that number. Contact the office that manages your record to update it after identity verification.
Why does it say invalid captcha?
Captchas can be case-sensitive and expire quickly. Refresh it, type it again carefully, and submit once.
Is it safe to log in at a cyber café?
Only if you log out afterwards, do not save the password in the browser, and confirm the address is samarth.wb.gov.in.
Can I log in to Samarth through this website?
No. This is an independent guide. There is no login here, and you should never enter your Samarth password on any site other than the official portal.
Is there a Samarth mobile app?
We have not found an official Samarth app announced by the government. Use the website in your phone browser and avoid unofficial apps claiming to be Samarth.
Application Status
What does Samarth application status show?
It shows the stage your social pension record has reached after you applied at an office, such as pending, under verification, approved or not approved.
How long does approval take?
We cannot confirm an official timeline. It depends on the office and verification. Ask the office if your status has not changed for a long time.
Why does it say no record found?
The wrong scheme may be selected, the identifier may not match, or the application may not be entered online yet.
Can I check status with my application number?
Guides describe search by Beneficiary ID, registered mobile number or Aadhaar. If you only have an application or acknowledgement number, ask the office which ID to use.
What does pending mean?
The application has been received but processing is not finished. Keep your acknowledgement slip and check again later.
What does under verification mean?
The office is checking your documents and details. Respond promptly if they contact you.
My application was rejected. What can I do?
Ask the office for the specific reason. Fix the issue, such as a document mismatch, and ask whether you can reapply under the scheme.
Will I get an SMS about my status?
Some offices or schemes may send messages, but do not rely on it. Check the official portal and keep your registered number active.
Can I change details after applying?
Changes must be requested at the office handling your application, with supporting documents.
Is my status shown on this website?
No. We never show or store any personal record. Status is only on the official portal.
Beneficiary Status
What is beneficiary status?
It confirms whether you are recorded as a beneficiary of a scheme and shows the details on your record.
What details are shown on the record?
Guides describe the status, and banking information such as bank name, branch, IFSC and a partly hidden account number.
My name is spelled wrong on the record. What now?
Take identity proof with the correct spelling to the office managing your record and request a correction.
The bank account on my record is old. How do I update it?
Submit the new account details with proof, such as a passbook copy, at the office handling your pension. Do not close the old account until the change is confirmed.
Can I see beneficiary lists for my village?
We have not confirmed a public beneficiary list feature on Samarth. Ask your local office for any published lists.
Why did my beneficiary status change?
A record can change after re-verification, a reported death, a duplicate pension check or a document issue. Ask the office for the reason.
Can I have two social pensions?
Public guides report that receiving one social pension may make you ineligible for another. Ask the office before applying.
What if a family member who was a beneficiary has died?
Inform the office that handles the record. Family members of widows may also ask about eligibility for widow pension separately.
Payment Status
How do I check Samarth payment status?
Find your record on the official tracking page, open the payment status view and choose the financial year.
What is a financial year here?
An Indian financial year runs from 1 April to 31 March. Choose the year in which the payment was due.
Payment shows on Samarth but not in my bank. Why?
Usually the account is inactive, KYC is pending, Aadhaar is not seeded, or the IFSC has changed. Visit your bank branch with your passbook.
Does this website show payment dates or amounts?
No. We publish dates or amounts only when confirmed by an official source, because they change.
Can a payment be credited to someone else's account?
Payments go to the account on your record. If the account on record is wrong, ask the office to correct it urgently.
A caller says my pension is stuck and needs my OTP. Is that real?
No. It is fraud. Never share an OTP or PIN. Hang up and report it on 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in.
Will I get missed payments later?
This depends on the scheme and the reason for the delay. Ask the office handling your record.
My payment stopped suddenly. What should I do?
Check your record status on the portal. If it has changed, ask the office why. Also check your bank account is active.
Eligibility
Does Samarth decide who is eligible?
No. Each scheme has its own rules, and the verifying office decides. Samarth only shows records.

Public guides report 60 years and above for the WCD Old Age Pension. Confirm with your office before applying.
Do I need to have lived in West Bengal for a set time?

Is there an income limit?

A husband's death certificate is commonly required, along with identity, residence and bank details.
What proof is needed for disability pension?
A disability certificate or UDID card issued by the competent authority.
Should I submit originals?

No. It only means the connection is encrypted. Check that the address ends in wb.gov.in.
Are all .in websites official?
